Using the Loj is very simple!
The Loj is open every weekend during the school semester. For anybody to use the Loj, two members of Tufts Mountain Club Select Board must be present. These students are the caretakers. Their job is to unlock/lock the Loj, collect the money from guests, restock the Loj groceries, and make sure everything is in working order. TMC makes sure there are caretakers at the Loj every weekend.
Typically, the Loj will open late in the afternoon on Fridays. You should always contact the current caretaker to see when (s)he is planning to arrive. The Loj will typically close on the Sunday of that weekend. To find out who is caretaking for any particular weekend, please visit the caretaker schedule.
You do not have to be a TMC member to use the Loj; however, TMC members get a significant discount. For all guests, there is a small fee for using the Loj. This money will be used by TMC to purchase food and new gear for all Loj visitors and TMC members to use. Loj visitors are also responsible for cleaning up after themselves and helping with the group cleaning before departure!
When you stay at the Loj, you are entitled to use any of the gear that TMC has on site. Also you can either bring your own food, or eat the food that is already there. Just remember to pay the appropriate fee!

What You Should Bring
- Sleeping bag or bed sheets and a blanket
- The Loj does not have any types of bedding besides bunks and bare mattresses!
- Pillow
- Water bottle (a Nalgene is perfect)
- Flashlight or headlamp
- Money
- Please make sure you have enough cash upon arrival to pay for your stay!
- Read the Loj rates page to know how much you need.
- DO NOT BRING SHAMPOO OR SOAP!
- The Loj has a very sensitive septic system, showers are prohibited unless ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY!
