Save PRRR!

Hello fellow badass, outdoorsy, fun-loving, New England college students!

As you may have heard, Tufts Mountain Club (who has put on PRRR for the last 4 years) is currently going through the permit process for the race with the White Mountain National Forest.  We would like to introduce to you:

SAVE PRRR: A CHOOSE YOUR OWN ADVENTURE WEEKEND AT THE LOJ

Here’s what’s up:

Meeting other students who like doing badass things in the outdoors is always cool, so that’s just what we’re going to do.  Racing without a permit is not an option so sorry, very sadly, the race is not happening this year.  Instead, in the full spirit of PRRR, we will be gathering for a weekend of camaraderie, skill, and fun.

When: October 9th-10th
Where: the Tufts Loj (North Woodstock, New Hampshire) and surrounding areas.  Beds in the Loj and our new Trips Cabin may be available, as well as plenty of lawn space for tents.
What: various trips and collective social times
Friday – arrive at the Loj, give up a little cash, sign up for trips, meet partners for Saturday’s activities, get shwag, and socialize.  Other potential activities include a slideshow so we can all reminisce about PRRRs past and a brainstorm session for how to make PRRR happen next year.
Saturday – eat yummy breakfast, go climb, hike, and bike, return to the Loj to celebrate the fun we had with a BBQ and beverages – the usual post-PRRR excitement.

How the trips will work:

Lead or join a group of others based on skill, experience, and comfort levels on a variety of trips. Routes are pre-planned, with packets of directions, maps, and information available at the Loj. Feel free to come up with your own routes too: we want this to be a real collaborative event! Keep each other safe. These trips should look and feel like a group of friends out for the day.
Climbing – Mt. Rumney (beginner, intermediate, advanced), Echo Crag (intermediate), Cannon Mountain (advanced). Bring your equipment!

Biking – Road bicycling: 8-63 mile routes. Mountain bicycling: Loon Mountain. BYOB: Bring Your Own Bikes

Hiking – There will be 10-plus preplanned routes (Franconia, Presidentials, Garfield, etc) and maps available to plan your own adventure.

Water – We will have Canoeing, Kayaking, and a Cardboard Canoe Race (TBD). Bring your own PFD!

Multi-Sport – We have baller bicycling / hiking routes planned, as well as running / water, bicycling / water, and bicycling / climbing. Bring your relevant equipment if you plan on doing one of these trips!

Cost: $15 a person for the weekend. (Food, lodging, and a T-Shirt included)

PRRR will hopefully be back next year, and this is an interim event that we’re using as placeholder for it. But, with your help, we can make this one of the most awesome, badass, and downright amazing events the Loj has ever seen!
If you think you will be attending please click here to RSVP and fill out the form below.  Look forward to more details about specific trips!

Please check out the TMC website for more info on this year’s event and the history of PRRR: http://www.tuftsmountainclub.org/prrr/

While this is not a team event, but it will be easier for us at TMC if we still have only one person to communicate with at each school.  If that’s not you or you have a different email address you’d rather be contacted at, please respond and let us know.  We are depending then on you to pass this info on to your friends and fellow club members.

Cheers,
PRRR 2010 coordinators (and ex-coordinators)
